A successful food manufacturing business, who have invested heavily in new plant, are seeking to recruit an Engineering Supervisor to supervise a maintenance team and have ownership of a range of plant and systems within a modern food production site.

The Role

Work a Two Shift System, 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, Monday to Friday

This is very much a ‘hands-on’ role where the individual appointed will take on a wide range of duties:

• Responsible for Planned Preventative, Reactive and Proactive Maintenance activities.
• Maximise ‘uptime’ on plant and systems including refrigeration, motors, boilers, PLC’s, AC / DC drives, pneumatics, dicing, slicing and cutting machinery.
• Manage sub-contractors on site, ensuring they work within established parameters of Health & Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Negotiate with engineering parts suppliers, improve procedures within engineering stores.
• Work with the Production team to establish access to plant and schedule and conduct maintenance around machine availability.
• Carry out maintenance duties and assign tasks to Maintenance Engineers.
• Analyse Engineering and Production data to establish where efficiency improvements can be made and co-ordinate Improvement teams.
• Mentor Engineers, ensuring they are suitably skilled and recommend further training which will benefit both the Engineer and business.
• Promote a ‘Safety First’ culture and maintain health and safety standards, Food Safety, and Hygiene Standards.
• Manage small capital expenditure projects including new machinery installations.
• Additional responsibility for maintaining the fabric of the building and associated mechanical and electrical elements.

The Person

• Willing to undertake ‘hands-on’ engineering tasks, as well as supervise the team.
• A minimum of 12 months experience supervising a Maintenance team within a fast-moving Manufacturing environment.
• A good understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
• Multi-Skilled, Electrical or Mechanical but skilled in both elements.
• High professional standards - not allowing standards to fall or shortcuts to be taken.
• An interest in developing a culture where Engineers are encouraged to develop and learn new skills.
