Service Engineer – UK – Home based
Salary £35,000 pa - £40,000 pa + Overtime + 25 days holiday
Monday to Friday – 40 hours door-to-door paid
An ambitious Capital Equipment business is seeking to appoint a Field Service Engineer to support their customers with maintenance and installations. The business designs, builds, installs and commissions machinery for the Food & Beverage sector and operates within a profitable and growing segment of the industry.
As Field Service Engineer, you will provide technical engineering support to customers across the UK, from Scotland down to the South Coast of England. This will be a home-based position with travel throughout the region, but you can expect to be home most evenings. Typically, the Field Service Engineers are away from home for only 2 or 3 nights a month.
The role will involve spending 4 days a week on the road and 1 day visiting the company site in Sussex to replenish the van with spare parts and stock items.
Applicants are likely to be Mechanically biased Engineers, either experienced in Field Service roles or Maintenance Engineering, looking to move into a Field Service role.
Typical duties will include:
- Service, Installation and Commissioning of equipment on customers sites.
- Maintain an inventory of commonly used spare parts for service work.
- Effectively responding to machinery breakdowns.
- Complete scheduled service work.
- Test & replace parts such as inverters, motors, panels and mechanical components.
- Provide machinery training to customers / operators.
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the application and function of the machines.
- Recommend and complete equipment upgrades.Calibration of machinery, ensuring its operating at peak efficiency.
- Provide post-visit inspection reports to customers and internal management, including details and cost of any remedial work recommended.
- Identify possible areas for improvement in machine design or function.
Suitable applicants will hold the following skills and experiences:
- A Multi-Skilled Engineer (mechanical bias).
- Experienced maintaining equipment within a Food/FMCG/Similar Manufacturing Industry.
- Excellent engineering fitting skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with 2D assembly drawings and 3D models.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- High attention to detail.Well organised and adaptable.
