Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Electrical Bias

A well-established food manufacturing business with multiple sites and a focus on producing premium food products within a fast-paced highly automated food production environment.

As part of a skilled and well-established engineering team, the Maintenance Engineer will work in close conjunction with Production, Planning, Quality and Hygiene, using engineering skills to ensure the highest level of uptime is achieved across all plant and systems.

Shift pattern: 6-2, 2-10 (Monday to Friday)

Duties will include:

  • Identify and rectify faults on a variety of food processing equipment, from bulk handling machines through to processing and packaging systems.
  • Diagnose issues and implement robust solutions, increasing plant efficiency, reducing downtime and improving asset reliability.
  • Undertake planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Work in a way that is compliant with quality and food safety legislation, company standards and specifications, ensuring leading industry standards are observed.
  • Work on CAPEX projects during times of plant upgrades and installation.
  • Utilise the tools and techniques of Lean Manufacturing such as 5S, SMED, Root Cause Analysis, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Utilise Reliability improvement tools such as Condition Monitoring, Vibration Analysis, Failure Mode Analysis.

The Engineer:

  • Be comfortable working in an environment where you’ll be encouraged to make suggestions and implement your ideas, that will drive change and improved ways of working.
  • Good understanding and fault-finding skills on PLC and Control Systems.
  • Suitably qualified, such as apprentice-trained, ONC/HNC, NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of working within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, such as food processing, consumer goods, or another high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of H&S Systems, PUWER, IOSH, combined with a safety-first attitude.
